Alumni #1

Explain why you believe this individual should be inducted into the Interboro Hall of Fame. Include significant accomplishments of the nominee. (Including, but not limited to: Career related activities, publications, civic activities, honors, awards, and etc.)

Alumni #1 never left Prospect Park. She never left the school district she graduated from in 1969.  She remains here today in 2023 and continues to support her Interboro community in so many ways.  Alumni #1 is a positive role model who does inspire current students to give back to their community...that is why we feel Alumni #1 would be so deserving of your consideration in naming her to the Interboro Hall of Fame.  Alumni #1 has distinguished herself in ways we often forget and that is being a mom who enjoyed her school district growing up. She participated in many activities at Interboro and her favorites were Playing Field Hockey and Marching with the Drill Team.  She married her late husband also an alumnus and they raised two wonderful women both who graduated from Interboro.  Through all those years Alumni #1 was deeply entrenched in the school and local Prospect Park community with a long list of being involved.  She was most active as a Homeroom Mother, School trip chaperone, a PTO member and worked in the Prospect Park Elementary School cafeteria while going back to college. Alumni #1, along with her husband, was very involved in the Lady Bucs organization and were noted many times for putting together the Year-End slide shows for the banquets.  She was always at the fields cheering on many sports teams and continues to be supportive of present day Interboro activities like attending sporting events, School Plays and Craft Fairs.  Community wise, Alumni #1 was a most active member of Olivet Presbyterian Church for over 50 years before it was dissolved in 2019. She served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School teacher for 27 years, Vacation Bible School teacher for over 40 years and a valued volunteer for the Beacon of Clothes Closet.     Additionally, Alumni #1 volunteered time for the Prospect Park Youth Club and taught nursery school at The Art Of Growing Nursery school for 32 years. Local Interboro students still, to this day, remember "Alumni #1" when they see her in the community. We can't forget the 33 years Alumni #1 spent for the Swarthmore Recreation Association as a Summer Camp Counselor. And today? Well she's still here in the Prospect Park Library working as a volunteer, reading and making crafts with the young children of Prospect Park.  You see, we believe, and know you do as well, that a Hall of Famer can best be defined not only about what they have accomplished during their high school years but perhaps even more so about the impact they made along the way on the people around them.  Better yet, when one has been doing the kind of volunteer work at her school and community for the ENTIRETY of her life, that is what needs to be recognized and marveled at in saying to the present youth of Interboro, you too can impact lives in so many ways...yes right here.
